I suck at finishing blogs...
So now that it's been a couple of weeks, I should probably finish blogging about my holiday, lol! I believe we're up to Friday October 17th...
Friday
Having arranged to rent a car yesterday
afternoon, we picked up our car at like, 10am for our epic trip to see Lake
Louise! It took about 45 minutes to drive there, and we stopped in at Lake
Louise village before heading up to the actual lake. There were a couple
souvenir type places, a candy store and an art gallery, as well as a bakery. So
I got a sausage roll J Yum J
Ten minutes up the road and we were at the
Lake proper. We wanted to get some shots of the big hotel/chateau there, so we
walked up a hill (…) to get to the lookout. A bit steep and annoying, but not
as bad as the Grouse Grind. That was most of the rest of our day too – we later
walked around the lake to the far end to check things out and get some shots.
Kate and Laney saw a pika while I was looking at rocks and stuff – it’s kind of
a rock mouse thing. Anyway, here are some Lake Louise shots!
On our way back, we stopped at the village again to get food, so I thought I'd try the meat pie from the same bakery as my earlier sausage roll. BIG mistake - it ended up being a fake-gravy-plus-peas/corn/carrot pie with two bits of meat in it almost as an afterthought. LAME.
Saturday
Our departure day from Banff arrived bright and sunny. After being cloudy and slightly rainy the whole rest of our stay????? Ridiculous! Anyway, the hostel had been great - dunno if I mentioned - they upgraded us to have our own room on the proviso that we gave the good online reviews :) I'm pretty sure it was because they had so few guests since the season had ended that they upgraded most people. But I'm not complaining :)
The bus ride to Calgary was uneventful but kinda sad as we slowly left the mountains behind us :(
We got to the airport super early, and ended up doing a lot of sitting around using free wifi, or browsing through the bookstore. We arrived in Toronto at like, 11pm and took the TTC home. Crazy late night - right before the early morning start for tomorrow and the Scotiabank run... eeep!! But that's for another blog post :D
