The best word in the English language...

I bet you all think it's something all holy like, grace or emmanuel...or chocolate...

But NO! It's "UNDISPLACED"!!!
I had x-rays on Tuesday to see what was wrong with my thumb which I had hurt three and a half weeks ago. It was all swollen and immobile for a couple of weeks, but I thought I just jarred it until it took forever to stop hurting... So THEN I decided to get it checked out...

So I went to the emergency ward of the hospital to avoid having to wait forever... and they said it would cost me $400 for the privilege. Instead I went to a walk in clinic to get a refereral to an x-ray place. I went last Friday, and they said that the x-ray place wouldn't be open again till Monday. So I went back Monday, paid $65 and waited three hours to see the doctor for 5 mins and get a proper x-ray request ($65 for a piece of paper...). By then the x-ray place was shut AGAIN. So I went back on Tuesday to get my x-ray, and after the x-ray they said call your doctor back in 3 days. So I called at 12:10pm today, and they said the doctor wasn't in yet, call back at 1pm. Then I called back at 1:15pm, and they left me on hold for 20 mins till I had to hang up on them to go do kettles by 2pm.
FINALLY I called AGAIN at 6:30pm tonight...stayed on hold for 15 mins... and FINALLY got in touch with the doctor!!!!

And he says... I have fractured the bottom part of the lower bone in my right thumb (the metacarpal) BUT it's an UNDISPLACED fracture!!!!! Which means it hasn't moved out of alignment, and if I keep it splinted I don't need to come back in for a cast or whatever, it will heal okay by itself. Yay! Hence UNDISPLACED is the best word ever because it means I am finished with the doctors and I don't have to pay more to get my thumb fixed!!!!

The only downside it that this stupid cold weather is going to aggravate it something chronic, just like it is bothering my right knee which is annoyed at me for going ice skating... (for anyone who's wondering, that's the knee I HAVEN'T had surgery on...)

Later :)

The hand up the top isn't my hand by the way...

My awesome weekend :)

Snow, snow, snow... and ice skating :)

Yay :) This weekend we got our first lots of snow!!! The earlier stuff officially doesn't count anymore because THIS snow accumulated on the ground!!!
Ok, on Saturday (after all night prayer), a bunch of us did a 5km fun run (I was slack - I walked it with Kingsley and Patricia) and there was snow on EVERYTHING, it was so sweet!!! There was me, Fiona, Kingsley, Rob, Geoff, Vito (probably not how you spell it, but hey), Sasha, Emma (spectator), Patricia and Paul. Geoff, Kingsley and Sasha had a snow fight. I wanted to, but my stupid thumb hurt when I tried to throw stuff. CUT AS.

So we did our walk/run, and Vito was the fastest out of all of us, but he was nowhere near getting a prize. BUT!! Get this! They had all put their names into a prize draw when we registered, and Vito's name got called out! It was so cool - he scored a free flying lesson, how random is that??!!! I think he's like... I dunno, 16? 15? I suck at guessing ages. So yeah. He scored a prize anyway :)

Then on Sunday we did our usual hectic Sunday stuff, and after church we went ice skating. AND it was snowing while we skated!!! It fully covered everything!! It was awesome.

And we went skating again on Monday night, and it fully started snowing hard as... Geoff would say"pfft, that's not snow!" but it was. It got all over me, and you could see the individual snowflake shapes sometimes too, if it wasn't all clumped together. Made it hard to skate though. Apart from flying into my face heaps, it piled up on the (outdoor) rink and clogged my skates.

I have decided I need to buy skates. It costs $7 for skate hire, but the rink is free if you have skates. I reckon I can get a second hand pair pretty cheap...

Todays' temperature range was from -4 to 0 degrees. I think the maximum on Sunday is meant to be -4 degrees... Good thing my jacket is awesome :)

All night of prayer

SO!
After squads last Friday, we all got to break curfew! It was totally awesome! The only condition was, that we were doing the all night prayer thing that was organised. It went from 7pm to 7am, and they did different things throughout the night. From 7-9pm they went carolling, but I was doing squads so I missed that part. Then we ate tea, and had a worship service thing, aka singing interspersed with random prayer things. That part was the best, and Jenn and I have decided that it's heaps better to sing in the dark. I hope the lights don't work at church this week...

So for the rest of the night we had random prayer thingies, decorating cookies to give to our neighbours and making pomanders (oranges with cloves stuck in). I got maybe 40 mins sleep at about 3am, then 25 mins at like 8am, and 2 hours on Saturday arvo. Tragic really. I did 2 hours on kettles (collecting donations) and a 5 km walk that Saturday too. And went to bed at 11pm...

Grace and I did breakfast on the Saturday morning too. We got juice, croissants and cheese, apple turnovers and fruit. And skittles :) We do awesome breakfasts :)
