The next part of my day...

... involved getting off the bus at work, and seeing a wet baby sparrow struggling in the gutter. It looked a little bit older than this picture, and I think it got blown out of a tree during the rain :(

I didn't know what to do. It would probably die anyway, and I have no idea how to tend to a baby sparrow :(

So I got some random cardboard litter, and picked up the baby sparrow, and put it on the grass. Grass is better than gutter right? And it was sitting up rather than on its back. Makes me sad that it was all I could do :(

I also remembered something in the bible somewhere God knows when every sparrow falls to the ground. So regardless of the suckiness of now, ultimately he has everything in hand. Wait, here it is, in Matthew 10...

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[b] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Check it, the DVP flooded!

This is the Don Valley Parkway - a highway that runs north-south just east of where I live. I was walking over this bridge this morning to get to the streetcar (tram) stop to go to work, and every news crew in the city was pretty much there with cameras and stuff. They asked if I wanted to be interviewed, but I'm like ah, no. Besides, all I would have said was something along the lines of the title of this post... I took a couple of pics on my phone, but couldn't be bothered figuring out how to upload them onto my computer, so I just nicked one off the internet. Looks pretty much the same anyway, only here you can't see the flooded bikepath on the other side of the Don River.

This afternoon Jenn was like, wish I had a canoe so I could paddle down the DVP :) She'd be famous for like, a whole week :)

Ender's Game - like

This is a very good book. A six-year-old is selected to attend this super advanced military training school, because the world is still always in preparation to fight again against the alien "buggers" that nearly destroyed them 70 years ago.

But he's not an ordinary six-year-old. His older brother was selected to try out first, but was too vicious. Then they asked his parents for a girl - just as advanced, but hopefully less violent. But then she was too uncompetitive. In this world, only two children are the norm, but they (the military) were desperate, and hoped for the third child to be a mix of his two older siblings. And so Andrew (Ender) was born.

Read the book before they make a movie out of it and ruin the story.
